Please DON’T pass the salt.

Do you know how much salt you are consuming every day? Too much salt may be a contributing factor to your high blood pressure. The daily limit is about one teaspoon a day (2300mg/day of sodium). Most people get double this! Just because you are not using the salt shaker, doesn’t mean you are not consuming alot of salt. Did you know that a can of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup has 2000mg of sodium?! Your daily limit in one small can of soup! If you go out to eat at restaurants alot, you may be consuming even more salt… some restaurant meals have over 5000mg of salt!

If you have high blood pressure, try following the 1500mg sodium DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet. The DASH diet can lower blood pressure about the same as some prescription blood pressure medications.
