A “Sugar High” can lead to a health low

Most of us love sweets. Kids go crazy for it or get cranky when they can’t have it. And of course, sugar is thought to contribute to kids being hyperactive or on a “sugar high”. Do you notice when you eat sugar you feel sluggish afterwards? Or you cannot think straight? Almost like a brain fog. And the more sugar you eat, the more you crave it? Well, there is a reason for this. Sugar is one of the few foods that activates the brain’s reward system, and is one of the reasons we get hooked and find it so hard to give up. Sugar activates the same part of our brain as sex, drugs, and alcohol.
A report published in the New England Journal of Medicine gives us all more reason to cut back on or cut out sugar completely.
